Robert (Bob) Grossman
Robert L. Grossman is the Frederick H. Rawson Distinguished Service Professor in Medicine and Computer Science and the Jim and Karen Frank Director of the Center for Translational Data Science at the University of Chicago. He is also the Chief of the Section of Biomedical Data Science in the Department of Medicine. He was elected a fellow of the AAAS in 2013 and a fellow of the ACM in 2016. He was a Federal 100 Award Winner in 2013 for his work helping federal agencies integrate technology and develop strategies for big data, cloud computing, and machine learning. He founded Open Data Group in 2002 and was its Managing Partner from 2002-2015. Open Data Group provided analytic services to help companies and organizations build and deploy predictive and machine learning models over big data and to operationalize AI. In 1996, he founded Magnify, Inc. Magnify provides predictive analytics solutions to the insurance industry. He was Magnify’s CEO until 2001 and its Chairman until it was sold to ChoicePoint in 2005. Magnify is now part of LexisNexis Risk Solutions. He is also the Director of the Open Cloud Consortium, which is a not-for-profit that builds data commons and data ecosystems to support research in science, medicine, health care, and the environment.
